  • WOW!!! It has been a long time. You will have to bare with me. I have 4 children ages, 13, 11, 8 and 5. They keep me very busy!! I wouldn't trade it for the world.

I guess the last time I posted up until I was about 14. There were some things in my childhood, that were not so pleasant!!! I have a BIL that touched me at inappropriate places, while he was dating my sister, he ask my one sister to have sex with him, and he also had a touching problem with others within the family. My one brother made me do inappropriate things to him when I was about 5. I'm not exactly sure what age I was I'm just going on the ability of me being able to remember it. Looking back I wonder why I never told either one of my parents about the occasions. To this day I don't like being around the BIL, but do so on family occasions. I try to make the best of it. I have forgiven both my brother & BIL, but that doesn't mean I totally forget what had happened, or make it easier. I pray when I have times of bad feelings for them, that I would be able to forget all about it. My dad started to drive truck (big rig) when I was about 3-4 years old, and because of the things that happened to me. I later went on to do things that I feel I should not have done. I also, feel that some of the things I did was because my dad was not actively involved in my life. Don't get me wrong, I love my dad he is a great man. It is just that he wasn't around in my teen years when I so desperately needed a father figure in my life. My dad did what he had to to provide for our family and I commend him for that. I met my husband when I was 14 and I was 20. He was a definate answer to prayer. Even though at that time in my life I wasn't praying for a husband. Someone was praying for me. Our family went to a Bible Brethern church until I was about 5, then we started attending a Brethren Church, where my parents are still members. My husband, children and I attend a Brethren church about 1 hr away from my parents, because we live closer to where we attend. Hopefully, in the not to distant future I will be able to write about how my husband and I met.

Everyone have a wonderful week. I going to be canning applesauce later this week. YUM!!!!

  • Continuing from last time..........

I was very much a tomboy growing up, probably until I was about 14! I climbed tree's, played in the creek, played outside all day, in the woods,(making forts) in the meadow, in the barn (making tunnels with the hay bales),  chased the cows, (when they got out), my one friend's brother had pigs, and when I went to her house, we would try to ride on the backs of the pigs. LOL!!! That is only a glimpse of what for tomboyish things I did as a young child. Of course there was always work to be done. We had a huge garden, so we had weeds to pull, and lots of picking vegetable's and canning, & freezing to do. Hard work never killed us, even though I'm sure that we were going to die after doing 50 dozen of corn, to put in the freezer. My older sister would take my dad's pick up truck to a neighboring farm and have them put the 50 dozen corn on the back of the truck, and then when she got home, we would all gather around for the husking, brushing, cooking, cutting, and freezing. The best part about "corn day" was that we would always be able to enjoy as much fresh corn on the cob as we wanted to eat. Loaded with butter, and salt. YUM. To this day we still do our own corn to put in the freezer, & a few other vegetables.

We didn't take family vactions, probably because we couldn't afford it, and it was too many of us. But, once a year we would rent a motorhome, and go to a Church Camp Meeting for a weekend. It was a blast, because we would meet new friends, and be with alot of friends that we went to church with. We got to camp, make fires for cooking, and we had a really good time. They had this really cool swing, "kinda of like a monkey swing" you would take this rope up a ladder with you, and jump off as high as you wanted to climb the ladder.

  • I was born the 7th child, into a family of 6, one set of twins. I have 2 brothers, 4 sisters. I get to be called the baby of the family, spoiled, etc. Anyone who is the youngest of the family knows all the names that get attached to them. My family was "River Brethren" until I was about 5 or 6, then we started attending a Brethren church. I accepted Christ at the age of 10, and was baptized a few weeks later. It wasn't until a few years later that I took being a Christian seriously.

My dad worked as a Culligan Man until I was about 4, then he went to drive tractor n' trailer, long haul. So we only seen him on the weekends. Sunday was a big family day for our family, we had friends over alot on Sunday for dinner, and supper. My dad was a very good man, he was a Christian example of love, and kindness, forgiveness, and always listened when we wanted to talk. When I was dating, I told my future husband I will never marry a truck driver, because I didn't think it was a great way to raise a family. Thankfuly God has answered my prayer.

My mom worked at a Childrens Developmental Home in the evenings, sewing. Then, during the day she babysat other children. So we always had other children to play with.

We lived on 6 acres, had a barn with a few cows to milk, and about 2 or 3 to butcher, we had chickens,  from which we could collect eggs, and some chickens to butcher. Barn cats, and we always had Germans Shepherd dogs, my mom breed her females, and sold the puppies. We had fun taking care of the puppies. A few times we would get small calves, and we would have to bottle feed them every morning, before we went to school, and then after school. We would call it sloping the calves. I'm sure some farmers out there would know what I'm talking about.

There is a 5 year age difference between the first 4 children till us last 3 were born. So when I was born my youngest sister was almost 3, the next in line was 5, my  youngest brother was 10, the twins were 11, and my oldest sister was 13. We have a joke, that the last 3, was my parents second family, the best part!!!

    to be continued!!!!

  • Getting to know me

When I started this site, however long ago it was, it was my intentions of post a little bit about my self, so that the readings would know where I'm coming from, and I never got that accomplished. So it is my goal over the next couple weeks to do some post about me and my family.

For now I need to run, and get my children out of bed, and ready to start the day. I'll post later this morning.
